Perforated Drain Pipe #1

Driving past a construction site of an auto dealer that was building a lot on a sloping hill, I saw a shimmering light emanating from inside these very large French drain pipes roughly 30’ long and 4’ wide waiting to be installed. The light filtering inside made different patterns depending on the location of the sun. So over the next few weeks I’d return at different times of day to photograph these drain pipes. I logged in many hours studying every facet of my discovery. The color in this photo comes from the sky, trees, and cars that were behind the pipes.

International Color Awards 2017 - Green Lacewing

I noticed this Green Lacewing bug hanging out by my back door. A green bug on green paint. Cool! That’s not something you see everyday. So I set up my tripod and took a few shots. The minimal composition and color play of the door frame on the left reminds me of a Rothko painting….with a bug ; ). This is my tribute to a decisive moment with this translucent little fairy.
